August Dinner Series | We Live to Eat! Not Eat to Live!

Leave it to the Greater New Orleans Chapter of the Louisiana Restaurant Association to give us another timely reason to dine out in this fabulous food town.
Its new program called We Live to Eat [and really, why mince words?] already boasts the hottest blog in town and a huge Facebook following. Now every Thursday this August, participating restaurants will host We Live to Eat Dinners, complete with special menus paired with wine or beer – all for a very special price [which varies according to restaurant.]
Now is a better time than ever to sample renowned chef John Besh’s broad range of cuisine all month long by dining at one of his restaurants on any given Thursday: From the tables of Lüke, a restaurant that revives the Franco-German brasserie as a New Orleans institution to August–twice on Gourmet Magazine’s list of Best Restaurants. VisitBesh Steak, the chef’s playful interpretation of the all-American steakhouse with a nod to New Orleans cuisine. And American Sector, in The National World War II Museum, provides a complete menu of all-American favorites from past to present.

At American Sector, for example, you’ll enjoy a generous family-style sampling of starter ‘snacks’; followed by a choice of signature retro entrées like meatloaf and mashed potatoes, chicken and dumplings, and potato chip crusted trout; and another family-style round of those yummy sweets – please pass the warm apple turnovers! The meal is paired with a half-pint flight of choice draft beers.
We Live to Eat merchandise will be available for purchase at each restaurant on the nights of the dinners. Because who doesn’t need a t-shirt proclaiming our most basic priority?
